It ALL began here in Nova Scotia when THOMAS URQUHART, born Loch Broom, Scotland in 1817 arrived with his wife KATE MAC DONALD,born in SCOTLAND in 1836. Settling along NORTH SHORE,In the St.Anns area of Cape Breton,their daughter,MARY, married Angus MAC LEOD, Born in HARRIS, Scotland in 1833. Their daughter MARY,born at North Shore in 1862 married Angus MAC DONALD, born 1854 in GODERICH,Ontario.
Mary & Angus Mac Donald had 7 children...all born at NORTH SHORE, Cape Breton.In the 1920's, the family moved to SYDNEY, where the opportunities for employment were greatest.Angus was a carpenter,and worked at the Steel Plant. In the 30's,he travelled to the west coast of Canada and eventually to the Northwest Territories in search of gold. One of the children was SARAH (Sadie), my mother. Pictured BELOW
