Leaving PORTREE ( pictured above),on the Scottish mainland,
we ferry across Loch Alsh to The Isle of SKYE,to a B&B in DUNVEGAN,
and then, the next day to the Scotland Presbyterian Church in that
town( interior picture below),attend church service, sign the guestbook, check some church
records, visit the graveyard and ask questions. RESULTS... NONE
The next day spent doing the same with same results.
Grandmother always told the family that her parents came from GAIRLOCH, a couple of hours north,on the mainland. The next day we ferried back, arriving in GAIRLOCH at noon,on a magnificient day,to view a superb, sandy beach upon entering GAIRLOCH.
Hours of inquiring, visiting churches and town halls, checking out graveyards, proved an impossible task....we simply had no vital information on ANGUS MAC DONALD...of which there were HUNDREDS.
We decided to return to home base in Loch RANNOCH, go to RANNOCH STATION at the head of Loch RANNOCH AND Loch TUMMELL to the STATION BAR AND PUB,with our favourite bartender,MAJOR RENNIE see picture below) Monday 06/23/2003 9:23:46am Name: john hughes E-Mail: email@example.com Homepage Title: Homepage URL: Referred By: Just Surfed In Location: glasgow Comments: have just seen the pic of Major Rennie, owner of the bar at Rannoch Station,a true gent who has now passed away, the hotel is still there but never the same ,thanks for the pic
