French River Bridge, which is about 3 miles past Breton Cove, The cemetary is located on the water side of the Cabot Trail.On the left (upper) side of the road is a large 2 storey
home with 2 dormers. The road to the cemetary is JUST BEFORE THIS HOME.The cemetary is about 1Km from the highway...well maintained. (Lloyd & Rita Mac Donald visit to site Nov.24-1996.)

The 1871 census...Angus Mac Leod Born Scotland...40yrs old ... would have him born
in 1831 He was married to Mary URQUHART ? in Harris,Lewis,Scotland.

15. Mary URQUHART was born in 1836 in Harris,Lewis,Scotland. (12) She died on Feb 8 1915 in North Shore,Vict.Co.Ns. She was buried on Feb 8 1915 in Pioneer Cemetary, French River,NS *. Her father came from Loch Broom...perhaps she was born there??

The 1871 census lists her at 35 at this time...makes her born on 1836...could not write, but could read. Children were:

child i. Thomas MAC LEOD was born in 1864. 1871 census lists age as 7 yrs
child ii. John MAC LEOD was born in 1858. Age 13 on 1871 Census
child iii. Neil MAC LEOD was born on Jan 3 1871 in French River, NS. He died in 1947 in Indian Brook,Nova Scotia. He was buried on Mar 15 1947 in Mac Donald Memorial Cemetary,North Shore,NS. 1871 census lists Neil as 2 yrs
child iv. Alex MAC LEOD.
child v. Jessie MAC LEOD was born in 1856. 1871 census lists her at 11 yrs
child7 vi. Mary MAC LEOD.
child vii. MAGGIE MAC LEOD was born on Jan 26 1879 in Plaster,NS. She died on Nov 21 1901.
child viii. Catherin (sic) (Katie) MAC LEOD was born in 1867 in Plaster,NS. 1871 census lists her at 4 yrs
